Episode 20: Show Notes

In today's episode we are looking at the 2nd biggest myth about bar exam test taking - repeating the facts. Unlike your law school professors or the 'BigBox' Bar Reviews, we think it's absolutely critical to use the facts when writing a successful bar exam essay.

In this episode you'll learn the reasons why the use of facts are a critical (and usually overlooked component) of effective essay writing.

Transcript of This Episode

In an upcoming episode I'll conclude with the #1 myth that destroys productivity and keeps bar takers from passing the exam.

Episode 18: Show Notes

In today's episode I tackle one of the biggest, most persistent and ultimately, most harmful myths about studying and taking the bar exam: issue spotting. If you take one of the "BigBox" bar reviews, you'll have issue spotting pounded into your brain and if you listen to the law school professors you'll be sure it's the 'only' way to pass the exam.

The problem? It's just not true. The bar exam is nothing like law school and issue spotting is a gigantic waste of time, energy and words. In this episode I'll explain why you should avoid issue spotting on your bar exam!

In upcoming episodes I'll be counting up through all ten myths that destroy productivity and keep bar takers from passing the exam.

Episode 17: Show Notes

If you just finished your bar exam you're probably wondering, "what now?" That's a great question and in today's Podcast, I'll address one of the big concerns - should you post-mortem your exam?

As you'll learn, the waiting period until bar exam results are released can be a time of frustration - or can be put to good use - and this episode will help.

I've also just written a new blog post on this topic called: "5 Things to Do While You Wait for Your Bar Exam Results" and you'll want to check that out as well.

After listening to this episode, what do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts, questions and experiences about the bar exam and the post-mortem process.

Episode 16: Show Notes

Is the bar exam the same as a law school final? Should you prepare for the bar exam as you studied for finals in school? Isn't the bar exam just the final test of law school? If you answered "Yes" to any of those questions, you're going to want to be sure to listen to today's episode from my series "Top 10 Bar Exam Myths" I talk about Myth #4: "It Worked in Law School."

You'll learn what makes the bar exam vastly different from a law school test and why the study and testing habits you had in law school will be of substantially less value in passing the bar.

In upcoming episodes I'll be counting up through all ten myths that destroy productivity and keep bar takers from passing the exam.

Episode 15: Show Notes

The Bar Exam tests your knowledge of the law, but just knowing the law is never enough to pass. Over the years I've seen countless numbers of bar takers focus exclusively on memorizing and reciting the rules of law and then discover that the skill being tested on the bar exam was actually something different.

How can that be? As you listen to today's message from my series "Top 10 Bar Exam Myths" I talk about Myth #5: "Know the Law Cold!"It may shake you up but it's a message you absolutely don't want to miss!

In upcoming episodes I'll be counting up through all ten myths that destroy productivity and keep bar takers from passing the exam.

Show Notes for Episode 000:

I don't know about you, but sometimes it's tough for me to go the "extra mile." Then I saw this great quote from Roger Staubach: "There are no traffic jams along the extra mile." Ouch. That really hit home (and from a Dallas Cowboy, no less!).

Bar exam students usually feel pretty overwhelmed and stressed out. That's normal. But I wanted to find a way to help those students unwind just a bit, not feel so alone or disconnected. That's why I started this Podcast along with a private Facebook group: "The Extra Mile."

In these Podcast episodes, I'll be sharing tips, techniques and thoughts about how to succeed on the bar exam, plus interviewing successful bar takers to get their insights, suggestions and stories of inspiration to help you. If you'd like more of this kind of community, I invite you to Subscribe to this Podcast and join our Facebook Group.
It's a place where current bar takers, former bar takers and future bar takers can gather for information, discussion and support. Plus, I've got some special goodies to add for Podcast Subscribers and Facebook Group Members that I know will make studying easier and more productive for you.

The Extra Mile Facebook community is a "private" group. That means you need to be approved to join. No big deal. Just click here and I'll add you to the group. Once you're a member feel free to chat with others, ask for advice and offer suggestions.

And, as we explore the Extra Mile on these Podcasts, I'd love to hear from you with your questions, concerns and suggestions. You can email me at jackson@celebrationbarreview.com.

Thanks for listening to Episode 00 and I look forward to joining you on The Extra Mile!
